Nasir Abubakar Song

Nasir Abubakar Song is a highly accomplished insurance professional with over 20 years of extensive experience in the industry. His career began at the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), where he served as an insurance regulator and contributed significantly to various departments, including Inspectorate, Authorization, and Policy. Through his dedication and expertise, he rose to the position of Manager in 2009, showcasing his ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks and drive impactful initiatives.

In 2010, Nasir transitioned to Fin Insurance Co. Ltd as a Senior Manager and member of the company’s management team. During his tenure, he held multiple strategic roles, such as NAICOM Relationship Officer, Head of Business Development North, Chief Compliance Officer, and Regional Manager North (2010–2023). These positions allowed him to spearhead business growth strategies, ensure regulatory compliance, and strengthen regional operations. His exceptional leadership earned him the role of Assistant General Manager before his resignation in April 2023.

Nasir holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Maiduguri (1996) and a master’s degree in international Affairs and Strategic Studies (MIASS) from the Nigerian Defence Academy Postgraduate School (2001). In addition, he earned a Middle Management Diploma in Insurance with Distinction from the prestigious West Africa Insurance Institute in Banjul, The Gambia. He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) and was recently awarded Fellowship by the Institute of Governance and Leadership Studies in Africa (IGLSA), reflecting his commitment to professional excellence.

Currently serving as Managing Director/CEO of Crown Takaful Insurance Limited, Nasir is leveraging his vast experience to drive innovation in ethical insurance solutions. Under his leadership, Crown Takaful aims to enhance insurance inclusiveness through technology-driven products tailored to meet diverse client needs. Nasir’s passion for reforming the Nigerian insurance sector is evident in his efforts to deepen penetration and create sustainable impact across the industry.
