Abdur-Rasheed Babalola is an independent financial services consultant and transformational coach with over 25 years of experience in general insurance, Islamic Finance, micro-insurance, not-for profit and leadership training in West Africa. Abdur-Rasheed is enthusiastic about building systems where individuals can collaborate and nurture strengths to reinvest in their communities as mentors to future leaders.
He is a trainer-facilitator at the West African Insurance Institute in The Gambia and has influenced 400+ financial professionals across West Africa, Cameroon, and Kenya.
He is a thought leader in financial inclusion and has written articles in publications such as Islamic Finance News and Middle East Insurance Review, shaping conversations on inclusive financial practices.
He co-created and secured NAICOM approval for innovative microinsurance products, boosting economic inclusion for microfinance banks.
He jointly led a World Bank initiative establishing an Islamic Finance Desk at the Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN), expanding SME credit access and fostering financial inclusion. He serves as a non-executive director of Trust Arthur Limited, a non-interest financial asset management company, where he brings to bear his restorative mindset to drive strategic objectives.
Abdur-Rasheed is a proponent of transformational coaching as a means to drive social change. In his work as a volunteer for several social causes, he has been able to serve as a mentor and advisor to over 1000 future leaders in spaces such as Movement for Islamic Culture and Awareness and West African Insurance institute just to mention a few.
Abdur-Rasheed holds a B.Sc. Insurance and Masters in Managerial Psychology, from the University of Lagos. He is an associate member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria.
